Toshiba's CMOS Sensor Monthly Output to Reach 15mln Units by 2008
October 19, 2006
Japanese Toshiba has devised plans to double its monthly output of CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) sensor chips, employed in camera phones, to 15 million units by fiscal 2008. The company seeks to achieve that goal by hiking the capacity of its existing facilities in Japan's Oita and Iwate Prefectures. Expanded production will predominantly concentrate on 2- to 3-megapixel CMOS sensor chips.
